Governor Greg Abbott has expanded Texas’ emergency response to continued flooding and severe weather across the state. Abbott directed the State Operations Center to remain activated around the clock and issued a disaster declaration covering 59 counties. Forecasters expect more heavy rain and flash flooding risks through the end of the week across parts of Southwest, Central, and Southeast Texas. State agencies, including DPS, the National Guard, and emergency management teams, remain on standby for deployments. Texans are being urged to monitor weather conditions and avoid flooded roadways. Additional counties may be added to the disaster declaration if needed.
