Today marks primary election day in San Angelo and across Texas — Tuesday, March 3, 2026 — with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in Tom Green County. Residents are casting ballots to choose nominees for major federal, state, and local offices ahead of the November general election.
Leading up to the election, nearly 8,900 early votes were already recorded in Tom Green County, reflecting strong community engagement in local democracy.
On today’s ballot, Texans are selecting party nominees for high-profile statewide positions including U.S. Senate, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and seats in the U.S. House of Representatives. There are also primary contests for the Texas Railroad Commission, state legislative seats, and other statewide offices.
In addition to state and federal races, local offices and precinct positions are in play that will directly affect San Angelo residents. Voters are encouraged to vote in every contest — as primary turnout can shape who appears on November’s ballot and influence the direction of policy and leadership at every level of government.
If a candidate does not secure more than 50 % of the vote in their primary, many races could head to runoff elections later this spring.
🗳️ Reminder: If you haven’t yet voted and still plan to go to the polls, today is your chance. Make your voice heard in this important step of the 2026 election cycle!
