SA Police Say Officers Mishandled Call

San Angelo Police released a statement regarding an incident where officers mishandled an incident in October involving an intoxicated driver and a child. Police Chief Frank Carter said the officers mishandled the incident as recorded on a bodycam video. The incident occurred in a local Walmart store and the officers were working to search and arrest of a man fitting the description of an intoxicated driver and who was with a small child.  Chief Carter said his administration is aware of the depth of feeling surrounding this incident as well as the issue of police misconduct in our society.  He stressed that they are committed to policing our community with dignity, respect, fairness, and empathy — and when those important values are not being met — they will do everything we can to learn from it and take corrective action.
