Angelo State baseball lost their first game of the 2021 Division 2 College World Series in one of the most bizarre finishes all-time. The Rams lost 5-4 to Wingate and the two teams will play again this afternoon around 1:30pm CDT, weather permitting. ASU trailed 4-0 after a pair of Wingate homers, but the Rams scored three runs in the eighth inning and tied the game in the top of the ninth on a Nick Novak sac fly. Wingate loaded the bases with two outs and with 2-2 count, the game was postponed due to heavy rain. The rain delay lasted three hours and 26 minutes, and on the first pitch after the delay, Wingate singled in the winning run to beat ASU 5-4. Whoever wins between Wingate and ASU advances to the national championship. Central Missouri, the only undefeated team in the CWS, will play Tampa at 10am this morning and ASU will follow that game. Listen to ASU baseball starting at 1pm CDT on 101-9 the FIRE.
