128 Current SAISD Student Covid-19 Cases

The San Angelo School District says a significant number of students and staff members are suffering from the Covid-19 virus. In their latest published Friday, the district says more than 125 students and 11 staff members are suffering from Covid 19. The cases were in 13 elementary schools, both high schools, plus the middle schools.  

Christmas Toy Drop Off Locations

Conexion Special Projects will be hosting a Christmas Toy Drive for underprivileged children around the San Angelo area. The Toy Drive will take place from September 15th to December 9th and will only be accepting BRAND NEW, UNOPENED, UNWRAPPED GIFTS for their toy drive. The drop off locations will be the Downtown San Angelo offices at 24 West Concho Avenue, and the Villzap-Columbia Tax Service, Villzap Premium Insurance, Pinata Palace at 1623 South Chadbourne. Both till October 15th. All toys collected will be distributed December 10th at the Conexion San Angelo Christmas Pasada. 

Free COVID Testing Underway

Shannon Urgent Care West, at 4251 Sunset Drive, has reopened its drive-thru COVID-19 testing site. The testing site is open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. No appointments are needed and the test is free. Patients are encouraged to bring their insurance cards with them. For more information about screening or testing, visit ShannonHealth.com, or call the Shannon COVID-19 Hotline at 844-6-SHANNON. 

Pfizer Vaccines Available for 12 and Up

The Shannon Health Vaccine Clinic is now offering the Pfizer Covid-19 vaccines to those aged 12 and up. Health officials say that the health risks for that 12 to 15 age group are still at a high risk to develop Multi-System Inflammatory Syndrome. They say it’s a syndrome where multiple organs develop reactions to the COVID-19 virus. It’s like an immune or allergic reaction. 

Air Races Coming to San Angelo

Halloween weekend will bring some wild air race action to San Angelo. City and Chamber of Commerce officials announced plans for the first-ever stand-alone Formula 1 Air Race in the United States on October 30th and 31st. The "Air Race 1" action will take place at Mathis Field Regional Airport. Around a dozen planes will race at more than 2 hundred miles per hour as spectators watch. The event is benefitting the host, San Angelo Lions Charities. The two-day festivities will include flight line viewing, vendors, static displays, live music, and more. Ticket information will be available from the San Angelo Chamber of Commerce.
