Fifth Former TLCA Coach Booked in Student Workout Injury Case

The fifth and final former TLCA San Angelo coach named in a student injury case has now been booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center. Thirty-one-year-old Stetson Emfinger faces four counts of injury to a child and four counts of child endangerment stemming from a February workout. Prosecutors allege Emfinger and four other former coaches forced students to repeatedly perform pushups and did not allow them to stop. A lawsuit filed by families says as many as 20 students were hospitalized afterward, with many diagnosed with rhabdomyolysis. Former athletic director Kent Sherrill, former head coach Bradley Oh and former coaches Emmanuel Serna and Brandon Richardson have also been booked on similar charges. The cases are now moving through the court system.
