DPS Trooper Fatally Shoots San Angelo Man During Traffic Stop

A 29-year-old San Angelo man was fatally shot by a Texas DPS trooper during a traffic stop Sunday afternoon. DPS says the trooper stopped Kenneth Earl Cansler near Coleman and North Harrison streets for a turn signal violation. Investigators say an altercation followed and a weapon was introduced, prompting the trooper to fire. Cansler died from the shooting. The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident as an officer-involved shooting. No additional details have been released.
