Governor Greg Abbott has directed several state agencies to take steps aimed at expanding workforce training and improving access to high-demand careers across Texas. The plan includes growing apprenticeship opportunities, expanding career and technical education programs, and increasing access to dual-credit and workforce certification programs. State agencies will also work to create new career planning resources and strengthen pathways into skilled trades and other in-demand fields. Abbott says the effort is designed to help meet the growing demand for skilled workers and support Texas’ economy. The Texas Jobs Council developed the recommendations behind the initiative. Additional workforce proposals are expected later this year.
