New STAAR test results show Texas students improved in every tested high school subject this year. The gains were seen in Algebra One, Biology, English, and U.S. History exams. State education leaders say biology performance has now returned to pre-pandemic levels. Officials also reported improvement among English learners, low-income students, and students with disabilities. Education Commissioner Mike Morath credited focused classroom instruction and fewer distractions in schools. The state is continuing plans to phase out some STAAR testing requirements over the next few years.
