New “Sheep Spectacular” Statue Honors Meals for the Elderly Founder

Downtown San Angelo Inc. will unveil a new Sheep Spectacular statue honoring a local nonprofit this week. The sheep, named “Miss Marybelle Alice,” will be revealed Thursday afternoon at the Meals for the Elderly office on Houston Harte Expressway. The statue honors founder Mary Alice Rodgers, who started the organization in 1974. Local artist Ashley Perales painted the piece as part of San Angelo’s public art program. The unveiling will also include a donation presentation to Meals for the Elderly. Community members are invited to attend.
