A new study of data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says Texas leads the nation in road accidents involving unlicensed drivers. Between 2018 and 2022, Texas recorded more than 18 thousand fatal and non-fatal crashes that were caused by drivers who were at the wheel illegally. During that five-year period, there were more than 35-hundred pedestrian deaths in Texas, and almost 20 percent involved an unlicensed driver.
