The US Supreme Court is allowing Texas to use a newly redrawn congressional district map in next year’s midterm elections. Governor Greg Abbott filed an emergency application after a court ruled the map was unlawful because GOP lawmakers supposedly considered race when drawing the new districts. The high court’s conservative majority on Thursday paused the lower court ruling. The map was drawn in hopes of giving Republicans up to five extra House seats.
