A 23-year-old San Angelo man was reportedly charged with
manslaughter Monday evening after a rifle he was handling
discharged and hit a 23-year-old woman in the chest.
Police arrested Benjamin Ibarra after the incident which resulted
in the death of Samantha Ibarra. Police and an ambulance were
called to the home on Willeke Drive in the Southland area around
7 pm. Witnesses said Ibarra believed the rifle was not loaded when
he fired the shot. Samantha died after being transported to Shannon
Medical Center. Ibarra’s bond was set at 1 hundred thousand dollars.
