This week there will be a groundbreaking for the park where three bronze statues celebrating the “Historic Beginnings of San Angelo” will be located. The statues include The Lady in Blue, a Jumano child, and a Jumano brave, by world-renowned sculpture Vic Payne. The site is on the Concho River, below Bart DeWitt Park, near Johnson Dam. It takes place Friday, afternoon (April 20) at 4:30 p.m. The site is being prepared to receive the statues, which will be unveiled during a three-day event that will be held in May.
