A former athlete from Angelo State will compete in the Olympics. Daisy Osakue will compete in the discus for her native country, Italy, in the Tokyo Olympic Games this month. Osakue is a two-national Division 2 national champion in the discus and owns the longest discus throw in Division 2 history and will look to medal for Italy. The last Angelo State athlete in the Olympics was Tranel Hawkins who finished sixth in the 400 hurdles in the ’84 Games. Josh Owusu, who’s in the Angelo State hall of honor, finished fourth in the long jump for Ghana in 1972.
