The San Angelo Health Department reports that there is an increasing number of Covid-19 cases being reported. From Tuesday and Wednesday, there were a total of 125 new positive cases of COVID-19. 29 from PCR tests and 96 from Antigen tests. There were 43 reported cases on Tuesday and 82 positive cases on Wednesday. There are now 4,803 total positive cases in Tom Green County and 448 active cases with 32 victims hospitalized. Since the last report, they have released 67 cases and contacts of cases. There are 76 pending tests from the Shannon campuses.
Last week the local positivity rate has jumped to 13.7 percent. Governor Abbott had said that businesses could only remain open at 75 percent if the positivity rate was below 15 percent. Mayor Gunter urges everyone to wear a mask, wash hands, practice social distancing and don't attend large gatherings to help stop the spread of Covid-19.
