HS Football Kicks Off in 49 Days

High school football season is around the corner and kicks off in 49 days. The San Angelo Central Bobcats, who are picked to finish second place in district 3-6A, will go on the road for the season opener and visit Killeen Shoemaker at 7pm at Leo Buckley Stadium. The Bobcats have made the playoffs nine consecutive seasons and finished 7-4 last season and lost in the first round. The Lake View Chiefs will kick-off their season at home versus the Lamesa Tornadoes. Lake View won a playoff game last season for the first time since 2014 and lost in the second round to Wichita Falls Hirschi. The Chiefs return 14 starters from last year including eight starters on offense. The Wall Hawks kickoff their season the defending state champions of class 2A, Mason, in 49 days on August 30th at the Puncherdome. Wall went 9-3 last season and won their ninth straight district title while Mason went a perfect 16-0 and beat New Deal for their second state title. TLC Academy went 1-9 last season and will to bounce back when the Eagles host Eldorado at Lake View Stadium on August 30th. The Grape Creek Eagles are coming off a three-win season and will open their season at home versus the Baird Bears in 49 days. Veribest actually opens up their season on Thursday, August 29th versus the Rule Bobcats in Blackwell.
