Angelo State Football & Volleyball Move Up National Rankings

After Angelo State’s 17-14 win at West Texas A&M, the Rams moved up three spots this week to #22 in the nation in the AFCA coaches top 25 poll. ASU is one of three LSC teams who are ranked: Tarleton State is #4, ASU is #22 and Texas A&M-Commerce is #23 in the country. The Rams host UT-Permian on Saturday at 4pm. Angelo State football has won six consecutive home game

Angelo State volleyball has won 19 of their 20 matches this season and the Belles moved up three spots to #15 in the country in Division II. The only other LSC volleyball team who’s ranked in the top 25 is Texas A&M-Commerce who’s #23. ASU volleyball has won 11 matches in a row, all in conference play, and will put their winning streak on the line tonight at 6pm when the Belles play at Lubbock Christian

Lake View Fall Tennis Season Ends in Third Round

For the second straight year, the Lake View tennis team had its playoff run end against Vernon in the 4A regional quarterfinals. #16 Lake View lost 10-0 against No. 3 Vernon at Abilene Wylie. Last year, the Chiefs and Maidens were eliminated in the same round by Vernon. Lake View tennis finished with 15 wins and just four losses this fall and now gear up for the spring.

Tough Loss for Bobcats in Fort Worth

The Central Bobcats fell to 2-2 in district after a 30-27 loss at Fort Worth Richland. The game went back and forth but Richland scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:16 left in the game. The Bobcats are 4-4 overall and will look to bounce back this Friday in their home finale versus Hurst LD Bell…..the Wall Hawks won their closest game of the season as the Hawks squeaked out a 14-7 win over Jim Ned. Eldorado got a big 70-0 win over Miles in district play. Sterling City is 8-0 after a 60-12 victory over Westbrook and Ballinger topped Grape Creek 33-6.

Rams Escape With Win at WTAMU; Belles Win 11th Straight

Angelo State football escaped with a 17-14 win over West Texas A&M on Saturday in Canyon and the Rams improve to 6-1 for the first time 2005. ASU led 10-0 at halftime but the Buffs stormed back. ASU scored the go-ahead touchdown when Payne Sullins connected with Austin Landry on a 67-yard TD pass. The Buffs missed two chances to tie the game in the final six minutes including a 22-yard miss in the final. Angelo State football will host UT-Permian Basin on Saturday at 4pm…Angelo State volleyball won their 11th consecutive match on Saturday in five sets at UTPB. The Belles improve to 19-1 on the season and 11-0 in the LSC….ASU soccer bounced back from their first loss in conference and beat Eastern New Mexico 1-0.
