The 8th annual Brad Reese Basketball Camp is back in San Angelo at the Lee Middle School Gym next Monday thru Thursday for both junior high and high school boys and girls. Brad Reese is a former Texas Tech star and European Pro player. The camp will focus on fundamentals but the main focus of the camp is to encourage all players with not only basketball skills, but to inspire them in life with messages from the staff. The West Texas Basketball Coaches are teaming up with Skip Priess for the annual Concho Valley Classic, the best All-Star Basketball Game in West Texas this Sunday afternoon at the Junell Center. There are three games starting with the small school boys all-star game at 1pm for 1A-3A schools followed by the girls all-star game for all classifications and then the large schools boys basketball game 4A to 6A. Tickets will be on sale at the gate the Junell Center on Sunday and the games are at 1, 2:30 and 4pm
Markus Jones was named the 2019 Lone Star Conference Male Athlete of the Year Jones finished his four-year ASU career with a dominant senior year recording with 36.5 tackles for loss, which led all NCAA divisions and 17 sacks, which led the nation and Jones also broke the Rams career record for sacks with 37. Jones was named the LSC Defensive Player of the Year, South Central Region Defensive Player of the Year, the D2 national Defensive Player of the Year, plus First Team All-American. Jones signed with the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent after the 2019 NFL draft.
San Angelo Central football coach, Brent Davis, has hired Joshua Willis as the new defensive coordinator. Willis replaces Mark Chester who took the head coaching job at Blue Ridge. Willis has been an assistant coach on the defensive staff at Central……Veribest ISD hired former Wall assistant Chris Schlicke as the next head girls basketball coach. Schlicke spent eight seasons with Wall and helped the Lady Hawks win two state titles. Veribest girls basketball is coming off a district title for the first time in 17 years last season and made it to the regional semifinals
Angelo State baseball head coach encourages your kids to sign up for the Lone Star Summer Baseball Camp July 8-10. The camp is designed for baseball players who want to improve their skills and will cover hitting and specific positional skills. The Lone Star baseball camp is led by Coach Brooks who’s won five LSC titles, and made three appearances at the CWS during his tenure at ASU. The camp is players between the ages of 6-13. The camp will be held at Foster Field and the ASU Norris baseball clubhouse July 8th thru the 10th. If you register before July 1st, the cost is $110.
